Why book a hotel with a pool in Nice
Nice's beaches are pebbly and often packed in July and August. A hotel pool means a calm swim, a guaranteed sunbed and, on the rooftops, a view of the Baie des Anges you won't get from the beach. It is also a real plus with children, or when the sea is rough.
The choice is fairly limited: in Nice, it is mostly 4- and 5-star hotels that have one. Here are our eight picks, all checked, sorted by neighbourhood.
What budget to expect
We don't quote prices: they change with the season and your dates. Star ratings give a good idea of the range.
- Luxury (5-star): the Palais de la Méditerranée and the Boscolo.
- Upscale (4-star): Le Méridien, the AC Hotel, the Splendid, the Aston La Scala and La Pérouse.
- The tip: the Hôtel Gounod, a small 4-star with no pool, gives its guests access to the one at the Splendid next door.
On the seafront: the Promenade des Anglais
The obvious choice: the pool upstairs, the Promenade des Anglais and the beach below. All three hotels here are on the seafront.
At the Palais de la Méditerranée, the pool is both indoor and outdoor, and heated all year. The hotel reopened in June 2026 after seven months of work, now under The Unbound Collection by Hyatt banner. Le Méridien is the closest to Old Nice, right at the start of the Promenade.
Hôtel Palais de la Méditerranée
Behind the Art Deco façade, an indoor-outdoor pool heated all year, facing the sea. Reopened in June 2026 after a renovation.
Le Méridien Nice
A heated rooftop pool at the start of the Promenade, a short walk from the Jardin Albert-Ier and Old Nice.
AC Hotel by Marriott Nice
A modern hotel with a heated pool on its roof terrace, halfway along the Promenade.

City centre: around Boulevard Victor-Hugo
A few streets back from the sea, the city centre has several rooftop pools. You are closer to the shops, the tram and Place Masséna, and still get a view.
The Splendid has its pool and hot tub at the top of the building. Its neighbour, the Hôtel Gounod, is run by the same family, and its guests can use the Splendid's pool freely. The Boscolo has two pools: a covered, heated one in its spa and another on the roof. The Aston La Scala looks over the Promenade du Paillon, the long park that leads to Old Nice.
Splendid Hôtel & Spa
A rooftop pool and hot tub, open in season, with views over the city and the sea. Spa and hammam.
Hôtel Gounod
No pool of its own, but guests get free access to the one at the Splendid, its sister hotel a few steps away.
Boscolo Nice Hotel & Spa
Two pools: a heated indoor pool in the spa and an outdoor pool on the roof.
Hôtel Aston La Scala
A rooftop pool overlooking the Promenade du Paillon, between Place Masséna and Old Nice.

Below Old Nice: La Pérouse
The Hôtel La Pérouse is in a class of its own. It clings to Castle Hill, at the eastern end of the Baie des Anges. Its heated pool sits at the foot of the cliff, in a garden planted with lemon trees. Old Nice and the Cours Saleya are five minutes away on foot.
Hôtel La Pérouse
A heated outdoor pool set at the foot of the cliff, in a garden of lemon trees.

Our booking tips
- Check the opening dates: most outdoor pools close out of season, and the dates change from year to year. Look at the hotel's page or ask before you book.
- Heated or not: in spring and autumn, an unheated pool is often too cold. The Palais de la Méditerranée, Le Méridien and the AC Hotel all advertise a heated pool.
- Guests only: don't count on using a hotel pool without staying. The rare day passes are booked directly with the hotel.
- Pool size: rooftop pools are often small and busy in the afternoon. Go early in the morning to get a sunbed.
- With children: ask the hotel whether the pool has set hours or a minimum age.
And for a swim in the sea
A pool is no substitute for the Mediterranean. To choose between public and private beaches, read our guide to Nice's beaches. And if you are still unsure about the neighbourhood, our guide to where to stay in Nice compares the Promenade, Old Nice, the centre and the port.
